We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this unique spa hotel in Iceland. Ours was a romantic package which incl a 60 mins in-water massage and 2 dinners. The staff was very courteous. We arrived early in the morning and they let us use their …
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like royalty. This is truly an exclusive experience. We arrived at the Retreat quite early and were accommodated by Sergio. I’d first like to thank him for his exceptional customer service. Marta assisted us at checkout. I truly appreciate all the effort to ensure our stay was perfect.
Highlights/pros: the staff is accommodating and knowledgeable, the hotel/spa facilities are beautiful and impeccably clean, the blue lagoon and views are breathtaking.
Cons: none.
Loved staying here. From the moment we arrived everyone was helpful and nice. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The property is gorgeous. What I loved is that it really did feel like a retreat. When in the rooms you don’t hear any outside noise, it’s just so relaxing. The spa is amazing. So many wonderful ways to relax. The cave steam sauna is heavenly. The pods they have to read or nap are one of the best relaxing features of the spa.
Stayed here 2 years ago and it was an amazing experience. Staff was very attentive and very helpful. Like when my glasses broke and they tried there best to help me repair them, as well as booking us another night last minute, we liked it so much we wanted to stay for another day. The spa was gorgeous and they have their own private lagoon. They also have walkin in access from the spa to the main lagoon. Whoa was awesome.
My last new year vacation was in the Retreat was fabulous. Spa mood is always on and felling home all over the place. Delicious food in all restaurants. The water massage was the best massage ever. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They calls us for northern lights around 1 am and we saw it in the rooftop. They provide each room with big wool scarf for warm outdoor walks. Absolutely beautiful experience and will visit it again.
This was the best (and by far the most expensive) hotel I stayed in Iceland. Yet, with a price tag of upwards of USD$1200 per room per night, you’d be forgiven if you expect quite a lot better. ||Firstly, the hardware / physical facilities …
Dominque (our host) was incredible. He was very attentive and went above and beyond. He reacted very quickly to every request. At each interaction he greeted us with a smile and found small ways to make our experience better. 5 stars!
The spa is absolutely fantastic. Very serene and everything you want it to be. We loved it. Cecilia (hope I have her name right) who was also our yoga teacher was very kind and spent time with us taking pictures and walking us through the ritual experience.
The Moss and Lava restaurants were a somewhat underwhelming experience for the price point. The service at Lava was slow and it took some time for a server to greet us and pour our water. We also were given the wrong menu to start with. They weren’t very busy so it was confusing.
At The Moss restaurant my husband and I both weren’t “wow”d. As I’m pregnant I needed some alternates to the raw dishes and the subs weren’t very tasty or well thought out. However, our junior sommelier was excellent, personable and very knowledgeable. The host at the reception also went out of his way to welcome us and was very helpful.
We definitely recommend The Retreat - it’s beautiful, relaxing and the perfect start to our Iceland trip.
The Retreat is as you would expect. Well appointed, well serviced and well catered. The staff are attentive in a discreet way and the amenities of an appropriate standard.||Rooms are spacious and clean and thoughtful touches, such as …
